Essiac Tea Brewing Instructions

When ordering Essiac, each package comes with its own brewing instructions. The amount of herbs in each size bag will determine the amount of water to use. The instructions below are for a 1 lb. bag of herbs. Good quality bottled spring water is the best for brewing the tea. Essiac has a somewhat bitter taste, because bitter herbs are the healing herbs, but you’ll get used to it very quickly, and 3 oz. is just a big mouthful. If you like, it can be mixed with a little all natural fruit or vegetable juice, but regardless of the way you choose to drink it, the results are well worth the effort.

The following is VERY important. After the tea is brewed, and it sits overnight, there will be a thick sludge at the bottom of the kettle, DO NOT STRAIN IT! By throwing out the thick mixture you will be throwing out part of what you need to get well. Some of the benefits from the herbs are not fully released in the brewing process, and that’s why it’s best to drink it without straining. The components in each herb are set free in your stomach when they come in contact with the enzymes and acids in the digestive system that brewing alone will not accomplish, thus maximizing the benefits you receive. So don’t throw out the sludge! Just as eating a whole piece of fruit will be of more benefit to your body than just drinking the juice, so it is with Essiac. So stir up the tea before you drink it to get ALL the benefits your body needs to fight disease.

Ingredients: Blessed Thistle, Burdock Root, Kelp, Red Clover, Sheep Sorrel (including the root), Slippery Elm Bark, Turkish Rhubarb Root, Watercress.
