My husband, Pastor Jack, presented a sermon a few months back, “Repairers of the Breach,” that dealt with Sabbath keeping. After listening to that sermon, I was convicted once again that I need to be more diligent in my Sabbath meal preparations. So I sat down one day and decided to make a list of Sabbath menu ideas with maybe a dozen or so menus to use in rotation. The first couple of months or so I was deciding Saturday night or Sunday morning what I was going to serve the following Sabbath. If possible, I would begin my meal prep early in the week. If I was going to have some sort of patties or gluten steaks, I could certainly make a batch of them and put them in the freezer, pulling out just what I need on Friday for Sabbath. It’s nice having extras in the freezer for another time.

I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this and so I would like to share with you some of my Sabbath menus complete with recipes. Rest assured, all of these recipes are vegan, even if the original recipe was not vegan. Since it’s just the two of us, several of the recipes have been downsized.

Years ago I acquired a cookbook, 52 Sabbath Menus, which is a compilation of favorite menus served by various ministers’ wives. Each menu was set up with not only the recipes but what to do on Friday to prepare, as well as Sabbath final preparation guidelines. Each of my menu pages will be in a similar format.
